Do I need to do anything to prepare for my procedure?
- I like to advise anyone with sensitive eyes to take a Benadryl 30 minutes prior to the eyeliner procedure. This will help you relax and prevent excessive tears.
- OR I will advise anyone with normal eyes to take an ibuprofen 30 minutes prior to the eyeliner procedure. This will help reduce pain.
- Please do not wear contacts for an eyeliner procedure.
How long does permanent makeup last?
- On average, it last 1-3 years, depending on how you care for your makeup, the depth of the pigment and the biology of your skin. Some clients need touch-ups more often than others.
How long does each procedure take?
- For eyeliner or eyebrows, 1 - 2 hours.
- Touch ups usually take less time.
- Lip Blushing 2-3 hours
Is it painful?
- A topical anesthetic is applied before we start the procedure and is reapplied many times throughout the procedure to ensure the most comfort possible.
Is it safe?
- Mad makeup uses one time use sterilized needles and sanitizes the entire work area between each permanent makeup procedure. We also use only the highest rated pigments which have a reputation of safety and are known for their longevity of color.
Can permanent makeup be removed?
- YES! I can remove bad permanent makeup and give you a fresh start. I use a natural procedure; during the healing process your skin will start to reject the color. It is likely to take more than one treatment.
What is the healing time?
- It takes about a week to heal after your permanent makeup procedure. You may experience swelling/redness for 1-3 days. But this is not considered "down time." You can still enjoy all of your normal activities. Many clients even return to work the same day.
Will I need a touch-up?
- Touch-ups are highly recommended, your initial touch-up should be 1-3 months after the first procedure. This allows the artist to fix any spots that pigment was rejected or anything that may need to be redefined. Color boosts are recommended every 1-3 years. Color boosts keep your permanent makeup looking fresh and never dull.
Can I still wear everyday makeup?
- After your permanent makeup is healed, you may enhance your permanent makeup with the use of conventional makeup.
Can I still have an MRI?
- Yes it is perfectly safe to have an MRI with permanent makeup. It is very rare that anyone has complications from the permanent makeup. Please still inform your doctor that you have permanent makeup.

What is the "after-care" for post procedure?
- I provide you with an after-care kit that has enough ointment to last through your healing process. The only thing I recommend you buy is a clear antibacterial soap, to properly clean your permanent makeup tattoo. Inside of the after-care kit I also provide you with a list of instructions.
- Cleanse the area by splashing warm water on it. If needed use only a clear antibacterial soap on the treated area. Do not scrub with wash cloth this could cause color loss.
- Vaseline needs to be applied to the treated area five times a day for seven days. *Note: If vaseline is not properly applied the area will scab. Scabbing will remove and lighten the color, so it is very important to keep vaseline on.
- If vaseline causes burning or itching, discontinue use. Apply Vitamin E oil instead.
- Do not swim; soak in hot tubs or bath tubs for 7 days after procedure. This will lower risk of infection and help prevent any color loss.
- Do not use any makeup in or around the treated area for 7 days after procedure. This will lower the risk of infection.
- Use sun screen and avoid harsh chemicals. Stay out of the sun or sun beds for 7 days after procedure.
- Do not pick, scratch or touch the treated area, this will cause loss of color or infection.
- Swelling and light bruising around the treated area may occur the day of and/or the day after the procedure. If swelling occurs, place ice on it. Make sure u wrap the ice with a paper towel or put the ice in a zip lock bag before you place the ice on the treated area.
